Bringing Comedy to Niles, Michigan

A New Face in a Historic Location

In 1904, Andrew Carnegie provided a grant to come alongside the Niles community to build a new library! This library served as the center for learning and community gatherings through 1963. Since that time, the library housed the Niles Chamber of Commerce. When the Chamber moved in 2017, the library did not find a new owner and has been sitting vacant, until now.

The proprietors of The Study and the Underground Laugh Lounge decided it was time to breathe life back into this beautiful historic building to serve both Niles and the Michiana community by bringing laughter and a touch of mystery to the region.

Carnegie Library Niles MI

Why a Comedy Club?

Michiana, in the 1990s and early 2000s was one of the top comedy destinations in the United States; anchored by the Funny Bone Comedy Club at the Scottsdale Mall. Although there are, and have been, other comedy clubs in the region, the Underground will bring the best comedians to Niles and give guests a great night of laughs and an experience like no other club in the nation!

Our Vision For the Future

In the days of "pop up" events and businesses, where permanence isn’t the focus, we are here to benefit the community. By renovating the old library into a place for laughs and drinks, we will be a stable presence in the community for years to come!
